Study in Kyiv

Being the capital, Kyiv hosts students from all over the country and abroad. Educational system is very important and more than 70 % of people in Kyiv have diplomas of higher education. The level of knowledge in Kyiv, as in all post-soviet countries, is very high that is why students who graduate from Kyiv universities, institutes, colleges and academies can easily find a job. 

Due to such love to knowledge Kyiv has a great variety of higher educational institutions. The biggest and the most famous institute in Kyiv is Kyiv Poletechnical Institute. Kpi Ntuu was established in 1898. First rector of KPI was a famous scientist and a pedagogue Kirpichov, and the first head of the examinational commission was a world famous scientist D.I. Mendeleev. Founders of Kyiv institute took the best traditions of European technical schools. The main aim of such system was to combine natural-scientific and fundamental studies in Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry with engineering, to achieve high quality of workers at technical jobs or scientific institutions. Today Kyiv Poletechnical University is the biggest University in Ukraine. It has more than 30 000 of students from Ukraine and abroad. It includes 30 educational departments (10 institutes and 20 faculties). The institute takes a great part in educational, scientific projects and programs; it cooperates with 165 foreign universities and leading companies like EC, UNESCO, UNIDO, NATO, CODATA, MOTOROLA, FIESTA, SAMSUNG.

Another example of a world class university is National Aviation University. This university was established in 1933, it has more than 35 000 students. National Aviation University has the biggest percentage of foreign students in Kyiv. Due to high level of education it can prepare not only engineers but psychologists, economists, lawyers and translators. The pedagogical crew consists of the best PHD holders, professors and associate professors from National Academy of Science. The territory of university is 70 ha, the total square of academic buildings is 147 000 square km. 75 planes and helicopters are used in a practice lessons. It has 3 aviation training devices, 240 airborne systems and 6 000 computers. Moreover, Kyiv Aviation University has numerous student clubs and organizations, newspapers and even a hospital.

One more university that should be mentioned is National Shevchenko University (Kyivs'kyi Natsional'nyi Universytet Imeni Tarasa Shevchenka). This is the most popular and high class university in Kyiv and in Ukraine. Its main aim is to develop investigational process of humanitarian subjects in Ukraine. The university has many professional teachers who each year receive scientific prizes and diplomas. University has more than 25 000 students from all over the world. The status of the Shevchenko University is very high. It is believed to have the best acquirements for psychologists, lawyers and interpreters. Each year it shows a great number of graduated students that take the main positions in governmental and international companies.

All together there are more than a 100 universities that give a high level of knowledge to young and perspective students. Almost all young people in Kyiv receive higher education and continue their studies at work. It is a common practice to receive a second or even a third higher education that is why Kyiv is always opening new institutes like Kyiv Institute of Interpreters to fulfill their needs.
